Winery Visit to Whitehall Lane Winery
Please join the Rossmoor Wine and Food Society on Thursday, May 11, 2017 for a visit to Whitehall Lane Winery in St. Helena, CA. Whitehall Lane Winery was founded in 1979. The winery is named after the road that runs along the south border of the property and was purchased in 1993 by the Leonardini family of San Francisco. In its relatively short history as a family run operation, it has developed into a world-class winery. The winery family believes that wine is such a social component to life. It is something to share and enjoy with friends and family to commemorate and celebrate joy. We would like to share this celebration with you and provide an unforgettable experience at Whitehall Lane Winery.
Our visit will begin with a welcoming glass of 2015 Sauvignon Blanc, a refreshing white wine with citrusy lemon, tart apple and sweet melon flavors and aromas, a brief tour of the property is available for those interested.
A selection of sandwiches built on herbed focaccia rolls are filled with generous portions of New York Steak with Grilled Onions, Turkey with Cranberry Chutney and a Grilled Vegetarian which will be served buffet style. A condiment tray of tomatoes, pickles, onions, grilled peppers and pepperoncini will accompany the sandwiches. Baby Lettuces with Cherry Tomatoes, and tossed with a Balsamic Vinaigrette, a Garden Vegetable Pasta Salad and a Fruit tray will also be served. Assorted mini desserts and cookies will complete our meal. Tastes of the 2015 Cub Red Syrah Rose, with delicately floral aromas, brings depth and texture with juicy flavors of cherry, strawberry and pomegranate, the 2014 Merlot, with an amazing core of ripe jammy berries and currant fruit that is beautifully framed by toasty oak and the 2014 Leonardini Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, a classic Cabernet that has a deep intense color and a distinct fruit center with a notable balance and good underlying tannin structure are paired with our lunch. Additional specialty wines might be available for tasting as the winery is currently in the process of bottling.
Our bus will leave Gateway at 10:15 a.m. to arrive at the winery at 11:30 a.m. for our tasting, tour, and lunch. We will return to Rossmoor at approximately 3:30 p.m.
