Culinary Institute of America at Greystone
Please join us on Thursday, October 8, 2015, for a very special visit to the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in the Napa Valley. Lunch will be served in the Vintner’s Hall of Fame Barrel Room, wine country’s grandest space featuring 2,000-gallon wooden casks, exposed stonewalls and wooden beams throughout. This space is a dramatic indoor venue and sets the stage for our stunning event.
We will arrive at 11:00 AM to allow ample time for browsing and shopping on your own before we begin our lunch at noon.
An appetizer of Grilled Lamb Loin, Goat Cheese and Fig Compote wrapped in Grape Leaves and paired with Mumm Sparkling Brut Rose, which offers a bouquet of ripe Pinot Noir fruit, rich with black cherry and strawberry notes, will be served. Part of this wine is initially fermented in the press, producing the soft fruity character that gives Brut Rosé its directness, while a small percentage of Chardonnay gives the wine power and structure. Our second course of Roasted Eggplant and Sweet Pepper Soup is paired with a Trefethen Dry Reisling which brings aromas of jasmine, orange blossom and lime that lead to light tropical and floral notes on the palate. This wine has delightful acidity and minerality and ends with flavors of ruby red grapefruit and peaches. The entrée of Jerk Seasoned Pork Loin, Mango Mojo and Pineapple Jicama Salad is paired with Ravenswood Vintners Blend Zinfandel. This rendition leads the charge with tantalizing aromas of black cherry, raspberries and blueberries along with hints of oak. It then gets really serious with a cascade of fruit flavors, and a long, fruit-forward finish you’re not going to forget. A Chocolate Cherry Torte served with a Whipped Dark Chocolate Ganache and Cherry Apricot Chutney along with coffee and tea will complete our culinary experience.
Our bus will depart from Gateway at 9:30 AM to arrive at the Culinary Institute of America by
11:00 AM. We will depart for Rossmoor at 2:30 PM.
The cost for this experience is $95. for current members. Reservations at this time, is for members only, through September 9.
