Winery Trip to VJB Vineyards and Cellars
Please join the Rossmoor Wine and Food Society on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 10:45 a.m. for a visit to VJB Vineyards and Cellars in Kenwood, CA. VJB is a boutique winery owned by the Belmonte family and featuring wines that blend the Old World tradition with New World innovation. Their Italian varietals, including a Prosecco and both white and red wines, showcase the beautiful Sonoma County region with influences of Old World Italian wine-making.
We will begin our afternoon with a seated wine tasting featuring 5 of their hand crafted limited production wines. Being a relatively small winery, they tend to sell out of wines and cannot determine at this time which specific wines will be available that day for our tasting. However, as some wines sell out, others are newly released so that the winery always has a wonderful variety of wines.
The wine tasting will be followed by a family style lunch prepared by owner and executive chef, Maria Belmonte. The wines served with lunch will pair perfectly with an assortment of wood-fired pizzas, from their seasonal vegetarian to the traditional margherita pizza, to the popular meat lover’s pizza. A side of Maria’s famous Caesar salad will accompany the assorted pizzas. Remember to save room for dessert, the Bay Area’s best gelato from the winery’s Wine Truffle Boutique.
After lunch, there will be ample time for browsing in the winery where in addition to the wine, Maria Belmonte’s fabulous pasta sauces and pastas are sold. A wide array of gourmet treats are also available at the Wine Truffle Boutique located on the property.
Our bus will leave Gateway at 10:45 a.m. to arrive at the winery for a 12:30 p.m. wine tasting followed by a family style lunch. We will leave the winery around 3:00 p.m. in order to return to Rossmoor at approximately
4:30 p.m.
Cost for this wine tasting and lunch event is $95 per member or $105 per non-member. Our events fill quickly and the winery trips are no exception. Please note that all reservations must be received no later than March 24, 2016. No refunds after March 24, 2016 when the number of attendees is confirmed. If you are unable to attend after you have sent in your reservation, please contact Helen Kane 954-8486 or Louise Ng 997-3335 so that we may call those members on our wait list. Substitutes will not be accepted, as priority must be given to those on the wait list. If we are able to fill your space we will send a refund to you. Contact Louise Ng at 997-3335 with any questions about the Wine & Food Society or call Helen Kane 954-8486 for questions regarding reservations.
