A Summerthyme Clambake on Peacock Patio
Thursday, June 27, 6 p.m.
Please join the Rossmoor Wine and Food Society on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. for a clambake on the Peacock Plaza patio.
We will begin our evening with a Summerthyme Screwdriver cocktail, consisting of lightly muddled oranges, hand-squeezed lemons, vodka, Aperol, and orange juice, topped with club soda and a garnish of thyme sprigs.
Also available will be a Bokisch Albarino wine, which has a golden color, warms your palate with flavors of apple, soft citrus, tangerines, and ripe stone fruit, and a brilliant acidity, that gives it a long refreshing finish; and an Operation Dragoon French Côte Du Rhône red blend of Grenache and Syrah (the wine’s name pays homage to those who liberated the Rhône Valley during World War II, helping to bring peace to the world 75 years ago).
The cocktail and the wines will be served throughout dinner.
Appetizers:
Blue cheese and lemon marmalade tea sandwiches on seeded walnut bread; roasted corn and tomato bruschetta on sliced baguette; and
antipasto skewers with Kalamata olive, mozzarella, salami, roasted red pepper, and pepperoni
Salad:
Plated Caesar salad with Parmesan cheese and handmade croutons served with a wedge of lemon
Entrée:
Clams, stone crab claws, scallops, cod, corn, sausage, onion, and potatoes served in a beach Frisbee with a newsprint deli paper lining
A platter of parmesan corn pudding and rustic bread and butter accompanies the entrée at each table.
Sweet Endings:
Frozen peach pie with graham cracker crust, whipped cream, and peach garnish, served with a French Connection cocktail. Cognac accented with amaretto, a nutty sweetness, enhances the cocktail, especially after dinner. Enjoy it straight from the glass or add it to your coffee.
The cost for this dining experience is $75 per member and $85 per guest. If you’re unable to attend after you send in your reservation, contact Helen Kane or Louise Ng.
