Mardi Gras Lunch at Nola's in Palo Alto
Let the Good Times Roll!
Please join the Rossmoor Wine and Food Society on Thursday, February 2,2017, for lunch at Nola's in Palo Alto, a fun and eclectic mix of Cajun, Creole and "southern contemporary" cuisine. Nola's is a bit of New Orleans located in the historic Ramona Street Building in downtown Palo Alto. The restaurant stretches out over three floors, with seven different funky dining areas. Nola's also has one of the largest collections of Southern folk art on the West Coast. We have reserved a private dining area in the mezzanine and elevator service is available.
Our buffet dining experience (assistance provided as needed) will begin with appetizers of Avocado toast, BBQ Shrimp and Grits, Devil's Eggs and Churrasco (Steak) Tacos. Nola's Hurricane, four rums infused with pineapple, valilla bean, and brown sugar to create their infamous “bug juice” is then mixed with fresh juices and topped with a dark rum float, will be served with the appetizers. You'll swear you're swerving down Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Our meal will also be accompanied by Pavi Sauvignon Blanc from the NapaValley and J. Lohr Merlot from the Paso Robles wine area.
A salad of Organic Mixed Greens with lemon vinaigrette and garlic ciabatta croutons and a warm Napa Cabbage salad with bacon and blue cheese will begin our meal. You may enjoy five entrees: Firecracker Cajun Pasta; fusilli, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, red onion with a spicy chipotle cream sauce and cotija cheese, a Jambalaya of Andouille Sausage; tasso ham, chicken, shrimp, scallion rice, roasted tomatoes, with a spicy sauce piquant, Big Easy Fried Chicken; buttermilk dipped, cornflake crusted and served with a chicken-thyme gravy, Mr. T's Famous Skirt Steak; a teriyaki marinated steak served with crispy cornmeal onion strings and St. Charles Salmon Tacos; with grilled corn avocado salsa. Sides of traditional cornbread and honey, scallion smashed potatoes, mama's mac and cheese and garlic sauteed green beans will accompany our entrees. All for your enjoyment!
Beignets Du Nola, rustic doughnuts blasted with a N'awlins cinnamon-sugar snowstorm and served with warm chocolate-caramel fudge and a Bread Pudding served with a silky warm maple-brandy sauce, chilled creme anglaise and whipped cream will be a sweet finish. This is a delicious and flavorful taste of New Orleans dining, not to be missed.
Our bus will depart from Gateway at 10:30 a.m. to arrive at Nola's at 11 :30 a.m. We will return to Rossmoor at approximately 3:00 p.m.
The complete cost for this experience is $95 for members and $105 for guests. Please make your reservations early and note that all reservations must be received no later than January 19, 2017. No refunds can be given after that date since all monies must be paid to the restaurant at that time.
