WINE TASTING
Please join the Rossmoor Wine and Food Society on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Donner Room at the Event Center for a tasting of wines presented by Vaughn Jodar, owner and wine maker of Jodar Vineyards and Winery, located in Placerville, California.
Our tasting will begin with the 2016 Chardonnay, which shows off a beautiful color, citrus on the nose, clean and crisp mouthfeel with hints of lemon, tropical notes and pineapple. This will be paired with Crab Cakes with Mango Coulis.
The first of the reds to be tasted will be the 2016 Sangiovese, brick red in color with aromas of strawberry jam and white pepper. On the palate, the fruit and pepper intertwine with rich spices and then lingers into a long, silky finish. Italian Sausage Skewers with Roasted Red Pepper, Artichoke Heart, Basil and Sun-dried Tomato are the perfect accompaniment with this wine.
The 2016 Zinfandel is known to be bold yet approachable, magenta in color with aromas of raspberry and fresh ground pepper. Big red fruits lead to flavors of cloves, anise, pepper and ginger with a lingering finish and hints of cherry blossoms and roses. BBQ Pulled Chicken Sliders with North Carolina BBQ Sauce and Coleslaw will be served with the Zinfandel.
The last red wine to be tasted is the 2015 Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from their vineyard that has been producing award winning Cabernets for over 27 years. The Cabernet is red in color with aromas of blackberry and baking spices. On the palate, enjoy smoky oak, cranberry and juniper with firm tannins leading to a long and structured finish. Served with the Cabernet will be Homemade Pizza Bites with Artichoke Heart, Ricotta, Mozzarella, Ham, Salami, Crimini Mushrooms, Marinara Sauce and Pitted Olives.
We will complete our tasting with the non-vintage Black Bear Port, made from Estate Cabernet
Sauvignon grapes in the Old World Port Style, which is full of rich cherry, vanilla and subtle spice flavors. A perfect companion to finish off a great meal or to enjoy anytime with friends. Sliced Aged Cheddar Cheese with Almonds and delicious Chocolates pair beautifully with the Port.

If we are able to fill your space we will send a refund to you.
Please make your reservations early and note that all reservations must be received no later than March 7, 2019. No refunds can be given after that date since all monies must be paid to the caterer and winery at that time.
