Spanish Fiesta on Peacock Plaza
Please join the Rossmoor Wine and Food Society on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. for a Spanish style dinner on Peacock Plaza. Festive Spanish colors of red and yellow will be seen throughout the Plaza .
We will begin our evening with appetizers served family style at your table. Bacon Wrapped Dates stuffed with Manchego Cheese, Huevos Endiablados (deviled eggs with tuna, onion, mayonnaise and Dijon mustard) and Garlic Marinated Shrimp with Spanish Chorizo will awaken your palate, along with your choice of a Manhattan Cocktail, made with a bracing mixture of bourbon, sweet vermouth and a dash of Angostura bitters and a Spanish sparkling wine, Segura Vidas Cava Brut, which is fresh and focused with a rich, yeasty, nutty quality, crisp and dry on the lingering finish.
A chilled Watermelon Gazpacho with Feta Crema will begin our dinner service. This will be followed by your choice of Spanish style Roasted Cod in Coconut Sauce with bell pepper, cilantro, garlic, onion, orange juice, plantains, tomatoes and lime juice OR Chicken Costa Brava with pineapple, tomato, black olive, salsa, garlic, bell pepper and onion. Your entrée will be served with Sautéed Spinach with white beans and pine nuts and Rice with Pigeon Peas. A basket of Pan Basico and butter will also accompany the meal. Armas De Guerra Blanco, made from the two main indigenous white grapes from Spain, Godilla and Dona Blanca, provide a wine that is fresh and crisp with ripe white fruit aromas and a hint of fennel and Juan Gil Jumilla, offers a smooth red berry and plum flavor with soft tannins adding structure, will be served with dinner. A sweet ending to our meal of an Orange Almond Cake, accompanied by another Spanish tradition, a glass of warm Port will complete our meal.
Cost for this summer patio dinner is $65 per member or $75 per guest or non-member. Our events fill quickly and the patio dinners are no exception. Please note that all reservations must be received no later than June 15, 2017. No refunds after June 15, 2017 when the number of attendees is confirmed. If you are unable to attend after you have sent in your reservation, please contact Helen Kane 660-9880 or Louise Ng 997-3335 so that we may call those members on our wait list. If we are able to fill your space we will send a refund to you.
