A Real Nice Clambake…On Peacock Plaza
Please join the Rossmoor Wine and Food Society on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. for a New England Style Clambake dinner on Peacock Plaza. Your casual attire will complement our summer beach theme.
Our evening will begin with appetizers served at your table; Flatbread Squares with Pancetta, Goat Cheese, Caramelized Onions, Olive Oil and Whole Fried Sage Leaves, Vegetarian style Stuffed Mushrooms and Crostini with mixed Heirloom Tomatoes. You might choose to relax with “Sex on the Beach” a cocktail made with Vodka, Peach Schnapps and Orange and Cranberry juices. Villa Barbi Bianco, Orvieto DOC, an Italian White Wine blend will also be served. Critics have scored this wine as one of the top five Orvieto Classico wines in Italy. It expresses the unique terroir with notes of dry, crisp acidity and pleasant peach notes, along with white flowers and golden apples.
Dinner will begin with a Caesar Salad with fresh Parmesan Cheese and homemade Croutons, followed by our entrée of New England Style Clambake, containing Clams, Crab, Scallops, Cod, Corn, Onions and Potatoes. Parmesan Corn Pudding and fresh Rustic Bread and butter will also accompany the meal. Paired with dinner will be an Old Coach Road, New Zealand Chardonnay, which due to the cool climate, retains its fresh fruit and mineral notes. Soft citrus and melon flavors mingle with hints of baking spices. This wine is light bodied and pairs perfectly with seafood. We will also serve a Seiano Rosso, an Italian red blend from several different areas of Italy all within the Lazio District, including Tuscany, Umbria and Rome. This Sangiovese – Merlot blend is full bodied and bright toned with notes of violets and fresh cherries and the tannins are well integrated which allow for a long, smooth finish. A refreshing Lemon Sorbet with mint and raspberry, accompanied by a glass of Kahlua, will complete our meal. A vegetarian option will be available upon request.
Cost for this summer patio dinner is $65 per member or $75 per guest or non-member. Our events fill quickly and the summer dinner is no exception. Please note that all reservations must be received no later than June 9, 2016. No refunds after June 9, 2016 when the number of attendees is confirmed. If you are unable to attend after you have sent in your reservation, please contact Helen Kane 954-8486 or Louise Ng 997-3335 so that we may call those members on our wait list. Substitutes will not be accepted, as priority must be given to those on the wait list. If we are able to fill your space we will send a refund to you.
