Greek Inspired Dinner
on Peacock Plaza

Please join the Rossmoor Wine and Food Society on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. for a wonderful Greek inspired dinner on Peacock Plaza catered by Classic Catering.
Our evening will begin with a Lemon Laurel cocktail, consisting of citrus vodka, Galiano, and roasted lemon simple syrup then topped with a splash of sparkling water. Domaine Papagiannakos Assyrtiko is a Greek white wine with a clean and crisp profile, showing citrus and stone fruits with well integrated acidity and a beautiful mineral finish. The Union Sacre Syrah, is a cool climate Syrah, with aromas of black olives, pepper, cherry and lavender, bringing flavors of ripe red berries, layered with spice and white pepper and a soft tannin finish. These wines will be served throughout dinner.
Dinner will be served on the plaza and feature the following:
Appetizers:
Spanakopita bites, mini chicken souvlaki and bruschetta with roasted pepper, spinach and cheese
Salad:
A Greek salad of lettuces, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onion, black olives and feta cheese
Entree:
Seared salmon filet wrapped in grape leaves with warm carrot hummus
Sweet ending:
Sugar dusted baklava with grape clusters and dried figs served along with Mavrodaphne, a Greek dessert wine, not unlike port with intense aromatic notes of caramel, chocolate, coffee and dried fruits, like plum and raisin. Mavrodaphne literally means "black laurel". The name was chosen by Gustav Clauss, the founder of the Achaia Clauss winery, because of the berries' resemblance to those of the laurel, though there are various stories about a lover, fiancée, or wife named Daphne, who had black eyes.
The cost for this dining experience is $75 for members and $85 for guests. If you are unable to attend after you have sent in your reservation, contact Paula Nichols or Louise Ng. Sorry no refunds after September 16, 2021.
Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
